6 WEEK PARENTING WORKSHOPS BEGINNING AUGUST 22nd
Parenting the Strong-Willed Child
Tuesdays 3:45-4:30 pm
- The so called "strong-willed child" is oppositional, argumentative, assertively demanding and presents a unique challenge to parents. Children depend on parents for the two "L's" – Love and Leadership. In today's parenting culture, love is often weakened by well-intentioned enabling, and leadership is weakened by equally well-intentioned attempts to be popular with one's children. Join us as we learn how to deliver these two essential parenting ingredients in ways that strengthen children emotionally and help them grow into responsible, compassionate citizens. We will also learn about the 3 C's – communication, consequence, and consistency. These concepts will help encourage you and aid you in parenting the strong-willed child.
Calming Anxiety and Learning to Manage Stress (CALMS)
Wednesdays 4:45-5:30 pm
- Worry. Fear. Panic Attacks. Self-doubt. Anger. This is what anxiety or stress may look like. This group for adults focuses on learning emotional strength through calmness and kindness to self. In this group, participants will learn self-calming methods to improve emotional regulation. There will be open discussion and tips for bringing calmness in your life, the life of your child, and your home. Basic yoga, basic Tai Chi, breathing techniques, progressive muscle relaxation and imagery are just a few of the techniques that will be utilized during the six weeks. All activities will incorporate movement to focus on improving body awareness and promote overall physical and emotional well-being, so come casual and learn to relax.
