Pastoral Institute Community Room

The overlooked essential management tool.

When effective business is conducted, effective writing almost always plays a role in the process. In this full-day workshop we will analyze when to write, what to write, and how to write. Understanding your purpose for writing and your reading audience is paramount to your success in any business transaction. Actual writing assignments will be a part of this hands-on workshop, including an individual assessment of your writing mechanics, style, grammar usage, sentence structure, spelling and punctuation. This program will provide you with the guidelines needed to meet the many challenges of workplace writing.

Course objectives: mechanics, structure, etiquette, eliminating wordiness, targeting the audience, creating sentence variety, passive versus active voice, clarity, brevity, transitioning, proof reading, editing, accuracy and bias-free language.

Facilitator: Debbie Woodham, BS
