Rooted in the Region
Our story began October 1, 1974, with four men, William B. Turner, Rev. Richard Robertson, Rev. Herschel Allen, and Dr. George Zubowicz. They believed the Pastoral Institute would be a refuge of healing, clarity, and inspiration for those who come seeking help with difficult life experiences. For them, the union of mental health and spirituality was not just a novel concept but a fundamental key to unlocking transformative healing. Recognizing the profound impact that faith and spiritual grounding can have on one's mental and emotional resilience.
They established the Pastoral Institute as a safe space where individuals could explore their inner selves with the guidance of professionals who appreciate the significance of both psychological and spiritual dimensions. Our founders believed in the power of bridging these worlds, understanding that mental health is intricately connected to a person's spiritual journey.
