Welcome to your first counseling session, we understand that taking this step can be both exciting and daunting. To help you feel more at ease, we'd like to share this overview of what to expect during your initial counseling session. Let's dive in!

Upon arrival at the PI, you will be greeted by our friendly receptionist. Once your clinician comes to get you, they will ensure you feel comfortable and answer any immediate questions you may have regarding your first session.

  • Play therapy is a widely used approach where children express themselves through play, allowing therapists to understand their thoughts and feelings.
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on identifying and modifying negative thoughts and behaviors, teaching children healthy coping skills.
  • Family therapy involves the entire family, aiming to improve communication and resolve conflicts.
  • Art therapy utilizes creative activities to help children communicate and process their emotions visually.

These are just a few types of therapy that your child may experience. We are determined to meet the needs of children, providing them with a safe and supportive environment to navigate their challenges and develop resilience.

Confidentiality

Your counselor will explain the concept of confidentiality and its importance in the counseling relationship. They will discuss the limits to confidentiality, such as when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. You can feel secure knowing that your information will be handled with the utmost privacy and professionalism.
